How much does a 3D house rendering cost?

In 2026, a US rendering studio typically charges $500–2,500 for one still and $50–200 a second for walkthrough animation. Freelance marketplaces start far lower. Here's what moves the price and how to compare quotes.

Rendering of the great room from its back corner: two cream sofas facing each other across a wood coffee table under an iron candle-ring chandelier, swivel chairs, the rotunda's curved wall with its arched opening, and the kitchen with its plaster range hood, long island, five stools and brass pendants.

Rendering of the ADU 1200-2 kitchen: the pantry’s light-oak door on the left, then a black stainless French-door refrigerator in a walnut surround, a stainless dishwasher, and the sink under a black-framed window with walnut cabinets on both sides; around the corner on the right, a stainless gas range under a white hood. A white subway-tile backsplash, light quartz counters and a dark plank floor.

What renderings cost in 2026

US studios: about $300–1,000 for an interior still and $500–2,500 for an exterior, with complex aerials higher. A small-home set (one exterior, two interiors and a 3D floor plan) runs about $1,900–2,000.

Walkthrough animation: about $50–200 a second at mainstream studios, so $1,500–6,000 for 30 seconds, and more for cinematic work.

Freelance marketplaces: roughly $50–400 a still, with quality and turnaround that vary from seller to seller.

AI tools: virtual staging and renovation of an existing photo cost a few dollars to about $50 an image. They restyle a photo; they don't build a house from plans.

What moves the price

The number of revision rounds moves the total more than anything else. Then scene complexity: landscaping, reflections and site context make exteriors cost more than interiors. Rush work under five business days usually adds 30–50%. Volume brings it down: a set or a whole plan library costs less per image than one still.

How to compare quotes

Ask for the price of the whole set, not one image. Ask how many revision rounds are included and what a third one costs. Ask who checks the images against your plans, and who pays when a window ends up on the wrong wall. And ask whether the walkthrough is made from the approved stills or quoted separately.

What it costs here

Priced by the size of the home: $1,100, $1,900 or $2,900 for the stills and a walkthrough, up to 1,200, 2,500 and 4,000 sq ft. One image of your own plan is $250. Two revision rounds are included, every view is checked against your plans, and a mismatch is fixed free.
